Mrs. Lago has had over 30 years' experience in public and school libraries. While she is originally from Ohio, she has lived in the Charleston area for 37 years. Mrs. Lago has three children (all graduates of Northside Christian School) and has four granddaughters and two grandsons. Currently keeping her company at home are her husband, John, a grey-striped tabby cat named Little Bit and a Black Lab named Maggie. Mrs. Lago loves to read, do crossword and jigsaw puzzles and cross-stitch when she has the time. She now enjoys reading books to the children of Northside alumni.

After teaching many years in various grades, Pat Galloway has taught preschool since 1990. She holds a B.A. from N.J. State College and is certified in elementary and early childhood education in Florida, where she taught before coming to Charleston four years ago.
She has a son in the Air Force stationed in Charleston whose three children attend Northside Christian. Her married daughter lives in Greenville,S.C. She is blessed with seven grandchildren and one "on the way" in December.
Pat counts it a joy to teach little ones about our great God as she helps develop their love of learning and social skills.
Mrs. Karrie Malmanger is one of our K4 teachers this year. She grew up in Wisconsin and then attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Minnesota, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Bible and Elementary Education. She then went on to teach in both Wisconsin (Union Grove-First Grade, Volleyball/Basketball coach) and Minnesota (Brainerd-K4, K5, Jr/Sr. High, coaching) before the Lord led her and her husband, Mark, to Charleston, SC. Mrs. Malmanger has been teaching at NCS since 2005. During that time she has taught K4, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades.
The Malmangers have a son, Evan, who was born in March of 2013 and two dogs, Dexter and Arabella. Mrs. Malmanger is a Packer and Notre Dame football fan as well as a MN Twins baseball fan. In her spare time she likes to sew and work on gutting and renovating her home.
Mrs. Malmanger accepted Christ as her Savior when she was 4 years old. Her favorite Bible characters are Esther and Ruth.
Candi Brittain has been teaching K5 at Northside for 17 years. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Education. After college she taught school in Sydney, Australia and then served as a Signal Corp Officer in the US Army. Her husband, Dan Brittain is retired from the Air Force and Boeing. She has two daughters that both graduated from Northside and live locally. Three of her grandchildren are attending Northside in K4, K5, and 4th grade. She home schooled her daughters for 6 years before coming to teach at Northside. This year will be her 30th year in education.
Deanna Simensen has been teaching K3 and K5 at Northside for 16 years. Prior to living here, she was teaching K5 in Puerto Rico where her parents were missionaries. She grew up in a military home and spent some of her childhood In Japan. Besides her love of teaching, she spends much of her time with her dogs Sadie and Ty.
Kim has taught at Northside for 30 years. She graduated from Appalachian Bible College in West Virginia.
She was saved at the age of 9 during Vacation Bible School. She has two sons, Lance and Logan, a daughter-in-law Rebecca, and one granddaughter, Colbie. She loves to shop and find great bargains, but her favorite pastime is spending time with her granddaughter.
Her life verse is Psalm 19:14 which says, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.
Elizabeth had been teaching Second Grade at Northside Christian School for 20 years. She graduated from Clarion University with a dual major in Special Education and Elementary Education. She taught Special Education for several years in West Virginia. Her family moved here from Pittsburgh, PA 21 years ago and she started teaching at Northside the next year.
Her husband Marvin works for Wal Mart. Their three children are all graduates of Northside Christian School. She realized her need for salvation at a Christian camp.
In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys free time activities such as crafting, sewing and recording family genealogy.
A Bible verse that has greatly impacted her life is Galatians 2:20 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith of the Son of God who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Mrs. Rachel Thomas has been teaching at NCS for 30 years. She graduated from BJU in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a minor in English. Her parents were missionaries to Argentina where she was born. She grew up on James Island, SC where she attended school. As an 8 year old, she received Christ as her Savior. At 12 she dedicated her life to full time Christian service. In 1983, she married Tommy Thomas, then, a captain in the City of Charleston Fire Department. They live in James Island near where they were both raised. Her husband, Tommy, a retired Battalion Chief, works with her as Custodial coordinator and building maintenance. They have one son, Jake, and one granddaughter, Cecilia Sunshine..
Cheri has been teaching at Northside for 15 years. She has her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Education from Liberty University. Cheri grew up in Charleston, is married, and has four grown children and three grandchildren.
All four children graduated from Northside and continued their education on the college level. Michael and Preesa live in Brooklyn, NY. Heidi and Kit live in Allen Park, Michigan. Jessica and Richard live locally, and Michelle and Paul live in Fairfax, Virginia.
Mrs. Minahan loves teaching and considers it a passion and ministry and not a job! She also loves talking about her grandchildren - Ariana, James, and Josephine throughout the year.
Her favorite scripture passage is Philippians 4:4-7 because it is important to be thankful for ALL things!
Cora has been teaching for 14 years. For the last two years, she has taught in the elementary at NCS. She has her BS in Sociology from St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas.
Cora is married and has three grown children. When she is not teaching, she enjoys helping her husband, who is the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Charleston Southern University. She also has assisted the Northside Varsity Volleyball team with her deep knowledge of athletics.
Cora's life verse is Colossians 3:23 - And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.

Vayle Carruthers hails from Nova Scotia, Canada. He attended BJU where he met his wife Donna and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music. Vayle and Donna were married a few weeks after they graduated from college. They moved to Charleston two weeks later and started teaching at Northside in August of 1987.
Over the next few years Vayle attended Trident Tech where he took several computer networking and applications courses. He teaches computer, piano, Word Processing, Microsoft Office Applications, and is in charge of maintaining the computers and network at Northside.
Vayle is starting his 31th year at Northside and enjoys teaching students from grades 1 – 12. He enjoys reading, crafts and woodworking in his free time.

Terri Richards grew up in lower Delaware and has been in South Carolina since going to college. She is a 1979 graduate of Bob Jones University with a BS degree in Home Economics Education and a minor in Science. She teaches Math and Science and is the adviser for the yearbook. She has been teaching for 29 years. She is married to Jim Richards who is retired from the United States Air Force, presently working for Boeing.
She has three children and one grandson. Her oldest daughter, Emily Munn, graduated from Northside Christian School in 2005 and lives with her husband Mike in Myrtle Beach, SC. Her second daughter, Katie Perry, is a soldier in the United States Army Reserves and is stationed with her husband Jeremy and son, Royce, in Hawaii. Mrs. Richards’ son, Tyler Hall, graduated from Northside Christian School in 2009 and works for SCE&G. He is also a junior at the Citadel working on a degree in electrical engineering. Mrs. Richards’ hobbies include photography, design, sewing, and needlecrafts. Her life verse is “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Prov. 3:5,6

Greg has been teaching at Northside Christian School for 6 years. He teaches Bible, Social Studies, and coaches the girls volleyball team. He has been married to his wife Laurie since 1989. They have three children: Abbie (19), Andrew (17), and Samuel (13). The other member of the family is their dog Aspen. Greg graduated in 1989 from Bob Jones University with a Bachelors of Arts. He majored in Bible Education and minored in history. In 1992 he graduated from Bob Jones University with a Masters of Education. Greg also is a licensed tour guide from the city of Charleston. He enjoys sports and spending time with his family.

Dan has been teaching and coaching at Northside Christian School since 2003. He has been married to Angie since 1985. They have three children: Nathan and Kristina (daughter-in-law), Erica, and Todd. They have two grandchildren: Elijah and Rylee.
Dan was led to The Lord at the age of twelve. He graduated from Bob Jones University in 1984 with a Bachelors of Arts in Bible. Dan has taught at Faith Christian School of Lancaster, SC, Fairfax Baptist Temple Academy of Fairfax, VA and Warrick Christian School of Boonville,IN. He enjoys spending time with his family and many types of sports.
